The Bucks revive by exploding the Pistons

With the only Giannis Antetokounmpo as usual holder, the Bucks avoid a 3rd loss in a row by easily dominating the very sad Pistons. It must be said that Milwaukee really did not need to pull out all the stops to make a difference. After a balanced first quarter, mainly thanks to Jerami Grant, the NBA champions will gradually unfold their basketball. The entries of Bobby Portis and Jordan Nwora are good, and the Bucks are already 20 points ahead (57-37).

The second period is one-sided with Pistons sending brick on brick, and Bucks who are content to defend well, and take advantage of the breaches created by Giannis Antetokounmpo. The MVP of the 2021 Finals is an adult in the middle of teenagers, and the gap reaches 32 points on a 3-pointer from the “Greek Freak”. Upon arrival, Milwaukee won 117-89 in an ideal meeting to revive.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The awkwardness of the Pistons. Never in NBA history has a team been so clumsy in taking 47 3-pointers. Killian Hayes’ teammates only register 8 for a meager 17% behind the arc. The prize goes to Cade Cunningham with an 0 of 9 from 3-pointers. The No. 1 draft pick is 0 of 14 after two games, and the Pistons are last in the NBA for long-range address.

The Milwaukee Defense. Granted, the Pistons were clumsy, but that’s because the Bucks had locked access to the circle. There aren’t a lot of shooters in Detroit, so Milwaukee opted to push the Pistons wide. With Giannis Antetokounmpo at the heart of the racquet, the Bucks are banking on mobility and stature, and without being great, the Bucks had a quiet evening.

Ongoing series. The Bucks remain on eleven straight wins over the Pistons, and there’s a rift between the NBA champions and one of the NBA’s weakest teams. However, Milwaukee was playing without three starters, but Mike Budenholzer made the choice not to weaken his bench, keeping Bobby Portis as 6th man, and we saw in the 2nd quarter how decisive the strong winger remained to make the break.

TOPS/FLOPS

Giannis Antetokounmpo. The double MVP and NBA champion flirts with the triple-double in just 27 minutes. On offense, he walked around with a “spin move” that permanently broke the Pistons defense, and his 3-point and free-throw skills change a lot of things on offense. In defense, he played pivot, and he shone as a scarecrow in the heart of the defense. Isaiah Stewart had a nightmare night.

Jerami Grant. The Olympic champion is the only one to float, and he signs his best game of this beginning of the season. His start to the game is quality, and he was the one who kept the Pistons afloat for ten minutes, scoring half of his team’s points in the first quarter. He didn’t try to do too much, and that’s the only satisfaction of the game on the Detroit side.

Cade Cunningham. The first choice of the Draft ends the meeting with a 2 of 14 on shots, including 0 of 9 from 3-pointers. With Killian Hayes at his side, he behaves like a shooting guard, and that doesn’t really seem to be his game. He was much more comfortable in the second quarter when he was alone in charge of the team . For now, he doesn’t have the legs to shoot better.
