Although he is now officially a Heat player, Kyle Lowry knows he will always be a Raptor. After nine seasons in Toronto and especially having won the title in 2019, the playmaker has marked the history of the Canadian franchise.
It is therefore logical that Larry Tanenbaum, president of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns the franchise, announced that his jersey would be retired by the Raptors.
“I deeply love Kyle”he explains to The Athletic. “When he made that decision, he called me, we talked about it and I was so happy for him. I know that one day he will come back. He will end his career as a Raptor and his jersey will be retired. He will be the first Raptor to have this honor. »
Toronto actually has no number retired yet and it’s quite logical that Lowry is the first. He won the franchise’s only title in 2019, but he also remains the second best scorer in Raptors history, the second most capped player too, as well as the best passer and interceptor and even the third rebounder!
