A first magnifying glass for Kidd, Bucks crass, a Curry on fire

Dallas Mavericks - Jason Kidd - Luka Doncic - Milwaukee Bucks - Giannis Antetokounmpo - Golden State Warriors - Stephen Curry

Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks hosted the Dallas Mavericks for their first game of the season. In a crowded State Farm Arena, Nate McMillan’s players won 113 87 after a high-level collective performance. Dallas got off to the best start in this match, however, quickly leading 10-2, but Atlanta finally woke up and picked up the score before taking the lead after the first twelve minutes. In the second quarter, the Hawks put a boost through Cam Reddish or De’Andre Hunter. Dallas hunched over but held on and returned to the locker room just seven points behind: 51-44. Unfortunately for Jason Kidd, who was playing his first regular season game as Dallas coach, his players didn’t no brighter in the second half. Unable to score a single basket for more than three minutes, the Mavericks scuttled themselves, suffocated by the defense and the aggressiveness of their opponents. Atlanta won the period with a score of 30-25 and quietly headed for its first victory of the season. The fourth quarter is only a formality, Dallas does not return and the State Farm Arena can exult: successful start to the season for the band of Trae Young. Dominant in all areas of the game, Nate McMillan’s players showed a more than attractive face during this premiere. Icing on the cake? This performance was achieved without a Trae Young of the great days. The leader finished with 19 points and 14 assists, but 6/16 on shots and 5 stray bullets. The collective really shone against Hawks (six players more than 10 points) while coming off the bench, Cam Reddish took the opportunity to finish as his team’s top scorer with 20 points in 21 minutes.

Ct Mavericks, Luka Doncic finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists but he too displayed a questionable address (6/17 on shots) and too many lost balls (5). Without a solution and less sharp than usual, the Slovenian could not compensate for the lack of his team. If Doncic could not carry his team, it is also valid in the other direction. Dallas players failed to raise their level of play to help their franchise player. Dorian Finney-Smith finished with only 5 points, 2/12 on shots. Kristaps Porzingis was transparent, again. The Latvian finished the game with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Off the bench, it is difficult to find satisfaction apart from Jalen Brunson (17 points). Finally, a quick word about the French since there were two of them that night. Ct Hawks, Timoth Luwawu-Cabarrot played 4 minutes for 1 rebound and 1 assist while opposite Frank Ntilikina also played 4 minutes for 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 block.

Miami started its season in the best possible way tonight by crushing Milwaukee. The defending champions, so attractive against Brooklyn two days ago, could never hope for anything in this game and left Florida with a sacred slap: 137 – 95, a nice +42 in the gums . Kyle Lowry could not have dreamed of a better first with his new team. The Floridians started this game with a bang. Very aggressive, very involved in defence, Erik Spoelstra’s players produced an almost perfect first quarter. They were also, it must be said, greatly helped by absences on the Milwaukee side (Brook Lopez, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis) and by the collective bankruptcy of the Bucks (15 stray bullets, 28% three points). Ahead of 29 points at the break, the Floridians have not relaxed their grip after returning from the locker room and have lived two last quarters rather quiet. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler were the perfect leaders. The first finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds while the second finished with 21 points and 6 assists. For his part, Kyle Lowry was a little more discreet for his first. The former Toronto player posted the following statistics at the end of the match: 5 points, 1/8 on shots, 6 assists, 1 rebound, 1 block and 1 interception. Off the bench, Dewayne Dedmon was good with 13 points and 9 rebounds. But the Florida side’s best performance of the night came from Tyler Herro. In 24 minutes, the point guard finished with 27 points 10/18 on shots, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Ct Milwaukee, a nightmarish evening forget as soon as possible. There were certainly absentees, but the leaders also failed. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds but 4/11 on shots. Khris Middleton finishes him with 10 points 4/14 on shots… Grayson Allen’s 14 points and Jordan Nwora’s 11 points are the only satisfactions to shoot for the Milwaukee staff.

  • golden state 115 – 113 the Clippers

Second meeting against a team from Los Angeles and second victory for Steve Kerr’s players. After beating the Lakers in the season opener at Staples Center, the Warriors hosted the Clippers this time around. At the end of a meeting how hooked, Stephen Curry and his band are essential by two small points: 115 – 113. Curry, named among the 75 best players in the history of the NBA, starts this game in the best possible way by planting 25 points in the first quarter. The Clippers are overwhelmed and find themselves trailing 44-27 after the first twelve minutes. The Warriors continue their festival and the gap climbs +19 seven minutes from the break. It is at this moment that the machine seizes up on the Golden State side or that it finally starts to work on the Clippers side, as you choose. Unthinkable given the scenario of the first two quarters, but it is the Clippers who are ahead by one point at the break: 67 – 66. The third quarter is fiercely contested but the Clippers are still in control start of the last twelve minutes. Tyronn Lue’s players are even eight points ahead and we say to ourselves that the Warriors will not recover. But that was without counting on Stephen Curry who finished this part with a bang. The Warriors leader made a festival on the last three minutes and scored almost all of his team’s points. In the end, after an incredible match, the Warriors sign their second victory of the season. Curry finished with 45 points and 10 rebounds 16/25 on shots including a superb 8/13 three-pointer. Jordan Poole is more discreet than against the Lakers with only 9 points. Damion Lee is still as valuable off the bench. He finished with 11 points and 2 assists. Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green are there with 17 points for the first and 10 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists for the second.

On the Clippers side, Paul George was very good. Author of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists, the former Pacers player could not really do more. Marcus Morris Sr finished with 10 points, 14 points for Ivica Zubac and 11 points for Reggie Jackson who was a bit holey (4/19 on shots). No Nicolas Batum on the floor tonight but Clippers fans were able to attend Eric Bledsoe’s premiere. A more than satisfactory performance for him since he finished with 22 points 10/16 on shots, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
